Ken'ichi Murata "Ribbons and restraint"
~~~~~
The Curse of Femininity x The Liberation of Eros
~~~~~~
Ribbons are not decorations, but a pact of silence.
A secret, allegorical game from photographer Ken'ichi Murata, acclaimed both at home and abroad.
Following "Princess playing the heart," this is tenth photo book by Atelier Third.
======
Ribbons, as symbols of femininity, conceal the nipples, conceal genitals, and attempt to seal away Eros.
The "Ribbons and Restraints" series perhaps visualizes the struggle with Eros, which attempts to break through and erupt.
One could say that this series more foregrounds the liberation of innocence from girlishness.

This work was conceived as a way to counter the anxiety of death.
Eros is the axis of opposition, and by dispelling the concept of death, Thanatos, I have maintained my mental balance.
But now, with death becoming all too familiar, this merciless reality makes this conflict no longer meaningful.
All that remains for me is the act of creation.
Now that death is so close to me, I must create a new worldview.
