HAMAGUCHI Mao "Butterfly Miniature Garden"
Girls are adorned in lace and buried by butterflies.
~~~~~
This collection covers works from Mao Hamaguchi's early days to her current works, depicting adolescent girls who exude both elegance and melancholy.
This is the long-awaited first collection from this acclaimed artist, who has appeared in solo and group exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, as well as illustrated books and theater posters!
======
A secluded, tranquil miniature garden.
Butterflies as symbols of dreams of the outside world.
======
My works are born from weaving together the landscapes and memories I have seen.
Both the butterflies and the girls are inherent in my daily life, and perhaps by sublimating them into paintings I have protected and saved myself.
What I value is expressing lingering emotions and feelings in people's hearts.
I hope my works will bring light to the darkness and provide a rest for the viewer's hearts.
I would be extremely happy if this collection of works can touch someone's heart.
