SHIMIZU Mari Doll Works "International Girls' Expo - Passion Mimic Girl"

Girls who bloomed beautifully and fell purely--

The turbulent times that began with the Industrial Revolution--

A lyrical fable by Mari Shimizu, expressed with ball-jointed dolls and doll objects, filled with love and compassion for the girls who tried to survive.

***

As a last resistance to preserve their dignity, the girls tried to transform themselves into as ugly forms as possible.

Like Daphne fleeing from Zeus, they mimicked trees and animals.

Then the spirits of the girls who died in secret were resurrected as beautiful flowers and butterflies, blooming purely and quietly in the depths of the forest, and living out their lives to the fullest.
